Its nice to travel and experience new cultures, but its even nicer to come home! to things that are familiar, especially returning home to pick up our cat Twinkle!

Don't forget the food, ah! travel and food there's a good recipe and don't forget the local beach, happy days!

It’s lovely and calming and the experiences broaden the mind.

189 Anderby Creek 18/08/07

I miss the leisurely pace of getting to the holiday destination. Now the journey does not seem to be a part of the holiday.

190 Anderby Creek 18/08/07:

Just to be beside the sea and the dunes, we don't really need anything else.

191 Anderby Creek 18/08/07

To be in a place where nothing is expected of you - you can just be.

192 Anderby Creek 18/08/07

The idle chatter, the simple food, the limited life-style - my home in the dune, above the beach - just a run from the sea.

193 Anderby Creek 18/08/07

On holiday I welcome the chance to escape the routine of everyday life, to play with our children without the constraints of work and timetables, to take the time to watch the sunset and RELAX!

194 Anderby Creek 18/08/07:

One place where you can just sit and look out to sea - sometimes in the sea which is even better, weather permitting of course! A feeling of slowing down.

195 Anderby Creek 18/08/07:

Holiday is great because I don’t have to do any work, I can sit around and relax.

196 Anderby Creek 18/08/07

I like holidays because you can go places you have never been before or places you have been, but really like you also get to relax and mess around and not worry about school or work.

197 Anderby Creek 18/08/07:

Holiday is FUN....... RELAXING...... ADVENTUROUS! (Child).

198 Anderby Creek 18/08/07:

Adventurous and no school. (Child).

199 Anderby Creek 18/08/07:

Peaceful sunrise over a silvery sea, water fights on the beach not in the house, finding starfish and crabs. Cold swims.

200 Anderby Creek 19/08/07:

In moving our bodies through travel our souls are allowed to unravel!

201 Anderby Creek 19/08/07:

Fresh air, making me feel alive. Fresh and cold air. The sun would be nice, but the sound of the sea still keeps me feeling young regardless.

202 Anderby Creek 19/08/07:

Memories of childhood, free and easy, no responsibilities, trips to the seaside by steam-train.

203 Anderby Creek 19/08/07

I was on this beach when I was two, (now I am fifty), the bucket and spade and deckchair are the same size as in 1959. (This comment is accompanied by a smiley face.)

204 Skegness 21/08/07:

I would not go anywhere else on holiday, I love Skegness and I’m content and happy here.

205 Skegness 21/08/07:

Peace, quiet, sunshine - a search for the unexpressed, undefined.

206 Skegness 21/08/07:

Skegness is a luffly place. I would attend every summer, its lots of fun. (Then a sad face). But it very sad face and expression on my face when you have to go home. Love Skegness. (This entry is accompanied by lots of hearts, German child).

207 Skegness 21/08/07:

Unable to read handwriting on this entry.

215 Skegness 21/08/07:

We enjoy coming to Skegness because we get to go on all of the rides and have ice cream. (Child).

218 Skegness 21/08/07:

First time our son has been to the beach and in the sea, he loved it here. The deckchair, bucket and spade are brilliant, they had him intrigued.

219 Skegness 21/08/07:

We enjoyed Skegness because we stayed at our uncles, and we liked the beach it was lots of fun. (Child).

220 Skegness 21/08/07:

Soft yellow sand and burnt out arcades. (A reference to a recent fire in Skegness which left a large section of the main tourism centre in ruins).

221 Skegness 21/08/07:

Holidays are precious; it’s a time when you can be who you want rather than who you have to be.

222 Skegness 21/08/07:

Sand in my socks, it’s what I live for.

223 Skegness 21/08/07:

231 Skegness 29/08/07:

I enjoy going on holiday because I like going in the sea. (Child).

232 Skegness 29/08/07:

Your deckchair etc. made us laugh, just like an old postcard scene. (Well done).

233 Skegness 29/08/07:

I like being on holiday for the sea and the sun.

Think the artwork is brilliant.

235 Skegness 29/08/07:

I like the seaside.

236 Skegness 29/08/07:

Being an artist myself I appreciate all forms of art. This I must say is larger than life! … Maybe next year larger than life donkeys?

237 Skegness 29/08/07:

I came to Skegness in 1951/52 and I needed to come back and reminisce. After many visits abroad it was interesting to find that it is still the quintessential English seaside resort – and we have enjoyed it as much as the first time,

238 Skegness 29/08/07:

It’s all about perception really. We believe the past was a “happier” time. It’s all inevitable really.

239 Skegness 31/08/07:

I love coming to Skegness because the beach is lovely clear and clean, and I like running in and out of the sea, can’t wait for next year to visit again. (Child).

240 Skegness 31/08/07:

Thank you for all the benefits of this splendid part of the East Coast…. As Arnie says – we’ll definitely be back.

241 Skegness 31/08/07:

A lovely day out from Northamptonshire. We spent many happy holidays here at the YMCA, sadly no longer here, many years ago.

242 Skegness 31/08/07:

We all chase our elusive childhood beach holidays, quite often they are ghost-like in their imagined reality.

243 Skegness 31/08/07:

It’s great to be by the seaside, especially on hot sunny days.

244 Skegness 31/08/07:

I love being on holiday because I’m not at work.

245 Skegness 31/08/07:

I love coming to the seaside to eat fish and chips, doughnuts and feel the sand between my toes.

246 Skegness 31/08/07:

I love being away because I can relax.

247 Skegness 01/09/07:

I like being on holiday because I have lots of fun. (Child).

252 Skegness 01/09/07:

I would like to sit in the deckchair with my Mum. (Child).

253 Skegness 01/09/07:

Very eye-catching, makes you smile.

254 Skegness 01/09/07:

Have brought a trip from our Sunday School. This brings back memories of my holidays with bucket and spade. Took photo of children to show their parents back home. Very good.

255 Skegness 01/09/07:

Lovely to look at, very unusual.

256 Skegness 01/09/07:

What a weird and wonderful feeling.

257 Skegness 01/09/07:

Lost in though and imagining things of the past.

258 Skegness 01/09/07:

What a wonderful idea.

259 Skegness 01/09/07:

Because the sun is always shining on you and you get to have fun. (Child).

260 Skegness 01/09/07:

To get away from everyday life and have fun.

261 Skegness 01/09/07:

To have fun and some time to myself.

262 Skegness 01/09/07:

I like being on holiday for a break and to get away from homes mundane.

263 Skegness 01/09/07:

We like being away on holiday for the sun and to get out of St. Neots.

264 Anderby Creek 02/09/07:

It’s all about perspective and who you are and where you are. Sometimes you feel like just sitting where you are and all is well – Other times just going in search of a different place is just what the doctor ordered.

265 Anderby Creek 02/09/07:

I like holidays because there is no cooking or washing.

266 Anderby Creek 02/09/07:

Holidays are great for relaxing and enjoying yourself.

267 Anderby Creek 02/09/07:

A day visit to Anderby – the last time I was here was twenty seven years ago on a family holiday. Holidays are such fun for families.

268 Skegness 03/09/07:

I like being on holiday for relaxation, fresh air, culture and a release from stress.

269 Skegness 03/09/07:

Because we like the beach and fresh air.

270 Skegness 03/09/07:

We like the seaside and I like all the rides.

272 Skegness 08/09/07:

On my first visit to Skegness I’m transported back to my childhood trips to the beach with my family. It’s a classic British summer’s day and the cloud has set in. I suppose I searched for something more exotic and certainly warmer and sunnier. This took me all over the world to many amazing places, but now I live back home near Whitley Bay and love it more. I appreciate it more having seen what I thought was ‘paradise’, but as Alain De Botton said; “paradise doesn’t exist – you bring it from within,” – so true.

273 Skegness 08/09/07:

My childhood seaside town ….. I loved the excitement of getting of the train (as that is where the holiday began), and arriving at a very busy station full of holiday makers. I cherished visits here in my teenage years, remembering the Mods, Punks and Skinheads – a wonderful place, some things have changed whilst others remain the same … aaah the seaside!

274 Skegness 08/09/07:

Came to Skegness to relive childhood memories, remember family who are no longer with us. Laugh at things we used to laugh at, show new friends and family. Travel to sunshine places and leave everyday cares behind.

275 Skegness 08/09/07:

We travel quite a few months of the year and have visited Skegness on several occasions, it is our favourite English resort.   Travel and holidays are what life is about.

276 Skegness 08/09/07:

Skeggy has all the charm of an old seaside town, the donkey’s, the lovely smell of fish and chips etc. I’ve travelled the world including Maldives, Caribbean, Middle East and Europe, but hey the English seaside has more character.

277 Skegness 08/09/07:

Coming to Skegness reminds us of when we were children, young and carefree. Now we bring our own children who enjoy it just as much as we did.

278 Skegness 08/09/07:

We come to Skegness for lots of days during the year. The reason we go abroad is the price and the sunshine.

279 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I enjoy being on holiday because there is no school. (Child).

280 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I enjoy being on holiday because you can go in the sea. (Child).

281 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I enjoy being on the beach under a brolly making sandcastles, especially when the brolly and chair are as big as this one.

282 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I enjoy being on holiday as it is less stressful than being at home, I enjoy travelling  but still come back to my childhood holidays in Chapel, which is lovely if the weather is nice.

283 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

We certainly picked a nice weekend for a break it was good coming back to old haunts. A nice peaceful weekend well enjoyed.

284Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I love being on holiday to get away from normal life, to switch of and relax. Always enjoy the beach, all the relaxing sounds and smells always a pleasure.

285 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I enjoy being on holiday because there’s no work. Relaxation is the hey, we own our own caravan so we come all the time to get away from the Rat Race.

286 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I love the intake of fresh air.

287 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

The chance to see the other side of life to become someone new, to change and grow and experience the ”new”.

288 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I like the distance from reality and responsibility!!

289 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I like travelling back in time when you visit the seaside! Ice cream and Candy Floss and the salty air.

290 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I love to ‘escape’ at the weekends to the seaside to unwind from the stressful home-life and work and relax, sometimes alone, sometimes with friends and family. Experiencing different smells sights and sounds is a refreshing change. Lovely and charming.

291 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

Ah the English seaside and memories of childhood. Sand everywhere, in the sandwiches, the lot Sand still the same, the sea and the fresh air, aaah… good memories.

293 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

Memories of childhood, the sand and the open space, freedom from reality and it’s always there for us just the same.

294 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

“I want one (giant deckchair), I’ve no garden but I could get the butler to carry it to the beach what a fun idea.

295 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

Childhood memories, sea, sand, donkey rides and the sun always shone. I still love it.

296 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

Lovely memories with my family except Dad who was in the pub!!

297 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

It’s a lovely view and great for kids. (The artwork).

298 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I love walking on the sand and paddling in the sea. (Child).

299 Chapel St Leonards 09/09/07:

I like the sand. (Child).
