Title: Grey Medium: Oil on canvas and board. Dimensions in cm: 65 x 96 Price on collection from studio: £220.00 Year made: 2006. About the work: This work is again created around my interest in language, and is created through partial metaphors that arise from the word "grey". Grey reflects hazy indistinct views and a grey area reflects uncertainty. The placement of the pure colour was decided by the "Golden Ratio" on its top edge but still appears towards the bottom of the image reflecting an uncertainty between two conflicting systems. The word grey is painted onto the pure section of the work, very lightly. The layers in the outer section of this work are very thin and amalgamate into one surface and whilst reflecting the layers of meaning that all language is comprised of, like a greyness are very indistinct. The work is not framed and could be hung unframed but purchasers may feel the need of a frame as the layers of paint on the edges make a rough surface.
