Title: La Vie en Rose. (Flowers seen on the grave of Edith Piaf, Monday the 10th November 2008, 11.28 am., Cimetiere Du Pere Lachaise, Paris). Medium: Acrylic on aluminium. Dimensions in cm: 100 x 90.8 Price on collection from studio: £320.00 Year made: 2009. About the work: This rose and the smaller flower were seen on the grave of Edith Piaf at the time detailed in the title. This token documents the personal feelings (silent voice) of the author; the rose is placed into the world for an audience with humanity. Confronted with mortality the viewers engage their own silent voices as they contemplate the complex set of relationships between our adulation of greatness, celebrity, and feelings of longing, hope and despair. These intense feelings when articulated are diminished; the rose enables us to better hear the 'silent voices' within. The work is hung on a hidden bracket which is supplied and so no frame is required. Packaging and delivery charges (additional to purchase price) :
